Not necessarily.
Many children who undergo Phase I treatment will still need comprehensive orthodontic treatment after more, or all, of their permanent teeth have erupted.
That does not automatically mean the first phase was unsuccessful.
The purpose of Phase I treatment should be to address a problem that benefits from earlier intervention, not to promise that a child will never need braces or aligners later.
Before recommending early treatment, we want parents to understand what the first phase is intended to accomplish and what treatment may still be necessary in the future.
Every child’s development is different. If something here sounds familiar, the next step isn’t braces. It’s a conversation with Dr. Sharp.
